Merchant FAQ's
Who gets the surcharge?
- If the merchant purchases the ATM, the merchant receives 100% of the surcharge. If NetPublic places the ATM, NetPublic and the merchant determine how the surcharge revenue is distributed.
How much is the surcharge?
- The average surcharge is $2.00, but can be set at any amount. Most major banks are now charging a $3.00 surcharge for non bank customers.
When do I get my money?
- The money dispensed by the ATM (vault cash) and the surcharge revenue are deposited into your account via the Federal Reserve the next business day. Funds from Monday will be available on Tuesday; Tuesday's on Wednesday; & Thursday's on Friday. Weekend transactions that on Friday (occur after normal processor business hours), Saturday, and Sunday deposit on Monday.
What happens when someone does not get enough money?
- This is extremely rare, but if this does happen, the customer should call their bank to verify the completion of the transaction on their account. If a withdrawal was made from the account and you did not get the money, a "Regulation E Claim" should be filed with the issuer of the card. There will be a toll free number for the customer to call. Our toll free phone number is on the ATM surcharge sticker. NEVER give the customer money; you may not get it back!!
What happens when the ATM does not work?
- There will be a toll free number for you to call.
What are my expenses?
- If you have a free placement you will have no expenses. If you purchase or lease an ATM you will need to pay one-time charges for the ATM or your monthly lease payment. The ATM will require a standard telephone line and a standard electrical outlet. One roll of receipt paper is provided with the machine and typically lasts 5-6 months.
Are there additional expenses not covered here?
- No. There are no additional statement fees, service charges, or transaction fees.
Do I have to pay any money out of my pocket to have an ATM at my business?
- No. You have absolutely no responsibility for the costs associated with the equipment, or any other fees. Installation, maintenance, and all costs are covered by NetPublic Communications. Better yet, we pay you! By the end of the following month in which the revenue was collected, you will receive a check from us for the number of usage transactions .
Who takes care of getting set up?
- We do. NetPublic Communications will take care of absolutely everything associated with the installation of the ATM at your location. We will be happy to accommodate you in finding the ideal spot for the ATM inside your place of business – a location that is easily accessible to your customers, and we do the rest!
What type of equipment will you put in?
- We use attractive, state of the art equipment that is a workhorse. Our units are designed to minimize the foot print area, leaving your business with the maximum promotional space. The equipment is roughly five feet high, one and a half feet wide, and two feet deep. We use a 56K modem for rapid processing, a state of the art swipe reader, and a large capacity cassette that can accommodate any locations cash demands. DSL Modems are available.
How long will it take to get the ATM installed at my location?
- NetPublic Communications is ready to install units now.
What happens if my customers lose money?
- This is extremely rare, but if this does happen, there will be a toll free number prominently displayed on the ATM surcharge sticker.
Do I have to be concerned about servicing the equipment?
- We usually know this before you do and typically have already dispatched someone to fix the problem. We have real time internet access to all of our equipment which enables us to quickly respond to any maintenance issues. However, should a problem arise, we still would appreciate a phone call from you.
